City Planning Commission met in regular meeting. Mr. Berky, Knutson, Robertson, Sorenson, Weickert, Klomp, Nicklin, Talley. Mr. Anderson and Smith. In the absence of Chairman Anderson, Mr. Robertson acted as Chairman pro-tem. The minutes of the meeting of August 17th were approved as written and mailed. Tentative map of Tract No. 13725, located on Encino Avenue, partly in Monrovia and partly in Arcadia, was considered. Two letters of protest and a protest petition bearing 51 signatures were read. Mr. Clausen and Mr. Baker orally protested the tract. All of the proteat centered around the additional drainage being added to Eighth Avenue. City Engineer Ross reported that in his opinion, the additional drainage would be small in quantity, and would not be serious. Motion by Mr. Knutson that the tract be recommended for app~oval, subject to the following conditions: 1. That the Arcadia portion of the street be made 60 feet wide. 2. That two feet "Future Street" be shown at the south end of the street. 3. That lots 7 and 10 be widened to contain 7500 square feet. 4. That the d rain to Eighth Avenue be placed underground. Said motion was seconded by Mr. Weickert and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mr. Berky, Knutson, Robertson, Sorenson and Weickert. NOES: None. ABSENT: Mr. Anderson and Smith. Application of Rancho Santa Anita for division of property north of the Arboretum was considered. Mr. Davies stated that it would not be economically sound to construct a full street, but that sewers would be installed. 1 The matter was held for further study, with the consent of the applicant. Application of C. L. Rebing, 600 W. Walnut Avenue, to divide property was considered. This amounted to a redivision of two lots, now being 80 feet and 58 feet, into two lots of 70 feet and 68 feet. Motion by Mr. Weickert, seconded by Mr. Berky and carried that the application be granted. The application of J. E. Rognstad for a sign at the southeast corner of Las Tunas Drive and Baldwin Avenue was considered. Mr. Berky stated that in view of the development across the street he had no objection to this sign if it conformed with required setbacks. Mr. Weickert stated that he did not favor signs in Zone R-l. Motion by Mr. Weickert that the application be denied. Said motion was seconded by Mr. Knutson and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mr. Knutson, Robertson, Sorenson and Weickert. NOES: Mr. Berky. ABSENT: Mr. Anderson and Smith. Letter from Attorney T. Guy Cornyn requested further consideration of the application of Robert Payton to divide property on Palm Drive. The matter was referred to the subdivision committee, and any other member of the Commission, to meet with ~~. Ross and Talley at 10:30 Monday, September 11th, to investigate the property, and report back. Tentative map of Tract No. 16872, located on First Avenue south of Camino Real, was referred back by the City Council for further consideration. Mrs. F. Macmillan and B. Leech offered to deed, free of charge, the necessary land for the east one-half of First Avenue from Camino Real south 432.5 feet, provided a garage and storeroom are moved and certain other work on the lot is done, and the street improved at no cost to them. Mr. Robbins and Mr. 1 . . Edmonds explained that they could not assume the responsibility nor the cost , of work on private property. Tom Paul, Rev. Scroggie and Norman Greve urged v that the matter be settled so that work could proceed at an early date. The Chairman declared a five minute recess to discuss the matter. Upon recon- vening, motion was made by Mr. Knutson that the tract be approved the same as at last meeting, except that the City ~cquire the necessary 30 feet of land at the north end, and assume the responsiEility of work on private property. Said motion was lost for lack of a second. Motion by 1~. Weickert that the City acquire and improve the east one-half of First Avenue from Camino Real south 432.5 feet, and that the subdivider improve the balance of First Avenue from Camino Real to Las Flores Avenue, along with the balance of the tract. Said motion was seconded by Mr. Sorenson and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mr. Berky, Robertson, Sorenson and Weickert. NOES: Mr. Knutson. ABSENT: Mr. Anderson and Smith. Tentative map of Tract No. 14257, located south of Sierra Madre Blvd. and east of Sierra Madre Wash, was referred to the subdivision committee. Application of A and M Realty for division of two lots at the northeast corner of California street and Second Avenue was referred to Mr. Sorenson and Mr. Berky to investigate. Motion by Mr. Berky, seconded by Mr. Sorenson and carried that the meeting adjourn, (Vvv.li Secretary.
