The City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Chairman Anderson presiding. PRESENT: Mr. Andsrson. Berky, Robertson. Smith, Sorenson. Ueiokert, nomp, Mansur. Nioklin and Talley. ABSilliT: Mr. Knutson and Ross. The minutes of the meeting of Maroh lat. 1951, were ordered approved as written and mailed. ,,' GeorgeD. Nickel. President of the Board of Trustees. Norvell R. Dice, Superintendent. and Walter G. Coombs, Business Manager of the Arcadia City School District, met with the Commission and discussed the proposed aoquisition fOr sohool purposes of the property bounded by Huntington Place, El Monte Avenue, Duarte Road and the flood control ohannel. They presented and explained the master plan for the develop- ment of the property. ~otion by ~. Robertson, that assuming the necessity of acquiring the above mentioned parcel of land for sohool purposes, a matter that the School Board of Trustees has given mOre study than is pOSSible for this Commissioh, and is better qualified to pass judgment upon, this Commission lookS with favor upon the desoribed property as a school site and recommends its acquisition for school purposes, if, in the opinion of the Sohool Board of Trustees, the site is necessary. Said motion was seoonded by Mr. Neiokert and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mr. Anderson, Berky, Robertson, Sorenson and lleickert. NOES: None. ABSENT: lIr. Knutson. NOT VOTING: :Mr. Smith. II Motion by Mr. Robertson, seconded by !Ir. Berky and unanimously oarried by roll call vote, that this Commission institute proceedings to grant a zone variance on a portion of lot 3, Traot No. 950, located between Huntington Place and Duarte Road, and west of Santa ~ita ~venue, for general school purposes, and that the matter be 3et :or publio hearing on Maroh 27th, 1951, at 8:00 o'olook, P. M. ~ The application of H. O. Bauerle to divide the south 12 feet of the north 192 feet of the west 65 feet of the east 95 feet and the west 2 feet of the south 132 feet of the north 312 feet of the east 97 feet of lot 25, Aroadia Aoreage Traot, was considered. Motion by Mr. Sorenson, seconded by 1~. Smith and carried that the applioation be granted. · The application of Frank E. Nilson, 2508 El Monte Avenue, to divide the north 75 feet of the east 190 feet of the west 200 feet of lot 60, Santa Anita ColOny, was considered. ~otion by !~. Sorenson, seoonded by Yr. Smith and oarried that the application be approved. :' . ~ Applioation of Pearl ~. Smith to divide the east 50 feet of lot 141, Traot tro. 2731, exoept the north 213.38 feet, located at the north- east corner of Duarte Road and Sunset Blvd., ~as considered. Motion by tJo. Sorenson, seconded b~r i.::z:,. '.Ieickert and. carried that the request be granted, subject to the removal of a shed located across the west line thereof. .. ~ .. . . Tentative map o~ Tract No. 14138, located west of Santa Anita Avenue and south of' Grandview Avenue, was considered. llotion by Mr. Robertson, that tentative approval be recommended, subject to the following conditions: 1. Show 2 foot strip ~ture Streetn at the north end of ~l Vista Circle. . 2. Lots 6 to 12 inclusive to have uniform frontage. Said motion was seconded by Mr. Sorenson, and carried by the follOWing vote: AYES: Mr. Anderson, Berky, Robertson, Smith and Sorenson. NOES: None. ABSENT: Mr. Knutson. ~iOT VOTING: Mr. \leickert. Final map of Tract No. 14236, located on the east side of El Monte Avenue, south of Longden Avenue, was considered. Motion by Mr. ITeiokert, seconded by llr. Smith and carried that final approval be recommended. City Attorney Nicklin presented and read Resolution No. 41, recom- mending the denial of a petition re~uestiug BQenilinent o~ the zoning ord- inance to prohibit the use of residential property as access to and from oommercial property. Motion by Mr. Robertson, seoonded by fur. Smith and oarried that Resolution No. 41 be adopted. City Attorney Nicklin presented and read Resolution No. 42, recom- ~ending the elimination o~ oertain uses now permitted in Zone ll-l. Motion by Mr. Smith, seoonded by Mr. Veiokert and carried that Resolu- tion No. 42 be adopted. Motion by llr. Smith, seconded by Mr. ITeickert and oarried that the meeting adj ourn. is:::.;.?:,
