4 NM=, March is Red Cross Month, a special time to recognize and thank the
Red Cross volunteers and donors who give of their time and resources to help members of
the community. The Red Cross depends on these local heroes to deliver help and hope
during a disaster; and
`iN IMF", in the Greater San Gabriel Valley the contributions of local Red Cross
volunteers give hope to the most vulnerable in their darkest hours — whether it's providing
emergency shelter, food, and comfort for families devastated by local disasters like home
fires, donating essential blood for accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ
transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell
disease; and
'W'J&W", the American Red Cross responds to small and large disasters around
the world. Every eight minutes the organization responds to a community disaster,
providing shelter, food, emotional support and other necessities to those affected. The
American Red Cross collects nearly 40 percent of the nation's blood supply; provides 24-
hour support to military members, veterans and their families; teaches millions lifesaving
skills, and connects family members separated by crisis, conflict or migration; and
'GitJ&RW, we dedicate the month of March to all those who support the American
Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
Our community depends on the American Red Cross, which relies on volunteers and the
generosity of the public to perform its mission.
