Pursuant to notioo given, a publio hearing was held on the application of
the .Ar.:l!l.di!l Unified School District for a 30ne varlanee to allOlf 'certain p;roperty

investigated and that in the opinion of' the Board they were not euitable. Mrs.
William C. Buttner, 19S4 Highland Oaks Drive, OpPOsed the prooosed location Il1'

Foothill Boulevsrd and Baldwin Avenue was advertised for sale at $32,500.
Mr. John Nourse, a member of the School Board, stated that the matter hed
been thoroughly expl.81ned to the residents at the meeting in 1953, and that no
particular protest had bean received since that t:bne. Also, that it IoIIlS desSrab1e
and more econmaal to operata smaller schools. Mr. Turner, 168 Elkins Avenue,

sian !Uld the School Board in' 1953, whare he pointed out that a ne10 school site
would be needed in the soutmrestern area of the town. The Chah-man dec1f>red the

requested a report from the City Engineer end P1.annine Consultant.
The request of 14rs. ~1. K. Smith, 1105 MayflOl,er Avenue, to divide property
was reoorted on by Mr. Balser and Mr. Sorenson. The request vss to d1vide a lot
50 lfeat by 150 feet from e parcel 114.01 feet in width. The 50-foot width was
requested because of the location of e tree and a patio. It was the opinion of
the Committee that the patio was not of sufficient VIllus to warrant a 50-foot
lot. Mr. Mansur suggested that the rear 30 feet of the lot bo rec:u1red to be
dedicetad for future street for poseiblo f'nturo subdivision. Motion by Mr.
Sorenson, seconded by I>Ir. Balaer end carried that tbe requested 50-foot lot

Notice of a public hesring before the Region9.l Planning Commission on tho
proposal to che.nge f'rom Zone A-I to Zone R-2 on tho portion of HGlland Avenue
located south of Live Oak AveI1U8 and west of Smlta Anita Avenue ~ ordered
filed.
Reports !'ram the City Engineer and the Planning Consultant, on the matter
of the !'equsst of the Caunty F'lood Control Distriot to open Doshier Avenue east
of' Highllmd Oaks Drive, each recamnended that more information be requested from
the Cctmty Flood. Control District concerning the need for such access, the
development of the Flood Control property end the possible truck routes leading
to and f'rom the 'area.. Motion by IT. Knopp, seconded by Mr. Sorenson end earr.ied
that the Secretary be instructed to oontact the Flood Control Department and
request such information. .
The Plann:ing Consultant submitted a report on the possibls rezoning of
Huntington Drive from Michi111nda Avenue to H"lly Avenus into Zona C-O. The
Seoret.ary was instructed to prepare ooples of tha report to be mailed to each
Commissioner for study; also to provide maps showing the Ilimtington Drive area
and ths Duarte Road area, reported on at the last meeting, and to place both
matters on the agenda for the next meeting. The Secretary was also :l.nstI'UClt6d
to inolude in the agenda for the next meeting the msps of f\rt:are at.reet locations,
oubmitt,ad by the Planning Consultent,at the Iflst meeting.
The City Attorney briefly discussed the matter of 1'Bquir1ng future street
dedication at tJo.e rear of large properties end stated that the matter could b3
handled if so desired by the execution and recordation of en irravoesble offar
of dedication and the delivery but not acceptance of a deed. He stated that thio
~Iould serve to notify any f'lture buyer of the prcrparty but that it ws a rather
oumbersoma process.
The City Att.orney presented Resolution Ho. 175 recommending proposad zoning
for corlain city-owed property on Live Oak Avenue and certain adjacent proparty
proposed to be annexed to the City. Motion by Mr. Robertson, secollded by Mr.
Sorencon and carried that the reading of the body of the Resolution be waived.
Motion by Mr. Daly, seoonded by Mr. lIilopp and carried that Resolution No. l7; be
adopted.
