The III1nutes of the meeting of August. 28, 1956, were approved as written and
mailed.
Pursuant to notice given, a pUblic hearing was continued on the application
of Model Linen supply COIIlp8J\Y, Inc., for a, zone variance to allow the enlargement
of existing covered loading areas on the east and south sides of the present
laundry building at 122 North ~t.a Anita Avenue. The report of the Planning
Consultant, recOlllllleIlding approval of the variance, w~ read. The Chaiman
declared the public hell1'1ng closed. Mr. Acker inquired about blocld.ng of tbe'
alley by laundry trucks and was advised that this was a police prOblem. The
City Attorney asked whether there was any customer parklng involved.
Mr. SchleSinger, pres~dent of the UCdel Linen Supply Company stated that the
laundry served only hotels, motels, etc., and had no counter trade, and that the
par!dng area was only for trucks and for employees cars. Motion by .Mr. Acker,
secondeli by Mr. Daly and carried that the City Attorney be instructed to draw the
necessary reeolution recOlllJllending approval of the application of the Medel Linen
Supply COIIlpany, Inc., for a zone variance to alloW the enlargement of meting
covered lOading areas on the east and south sides of the present laundry b1lilrli.,g
at 122 North Santa Anita Avenue.
The proposed ordinance regulating advertising structures, signs and billboards
was considered. The Secretary suggested certain changes in definitions. A general
discussioll followed in which various changes, corrections, additions and
deletions to the rough draft were made. Possible 1nclusion of time and zone
l1m1tations for billboards was considered. It was decided that no such inclusion
would be made in this ordinance. Motion by Hr. Acker, seconded by Mr. Daly and
carried that the proposed ordinance as amended. regulating advertising structures,
signs and billboards be recOlllJllended to the City Council for approval.
There being no further businsss, the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned.
