GENERAL NOTES
1. IF THIS PROJECT INVOLVED THE REMODELING OF AN EXISTING BUILDINGS. IT IS NECESSARY TO MAKE CERTAIN ASSUMPTIONS REGARDING EXISTING CONDITIONS WHICH CANNOT BE VERIFIED WITHOUT DESTROYING OTHERWISE
ADEQUATE OR SERVICEABLE PORTIONS OF THE BUILDING. CONTRACTOR MUST VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS AS TO THEIR CONFORMANCE TO THE DRAWINGS. IF DISCREPANCIES ARE FOUND WHICH WOULD CAUSE AN
AWKWARD OR UNSAFE INSTALLATION, THEY SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ARCHITECT BEFORE PROCEEDING.
2. THE ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS REPRESENT THE FINISHED STRUCTURE. THEY DO NOT INDICATE THE METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL MEASURES NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE STRUCTURES
DURING CONSTRUCTION. SUCH MEASURES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO BRACING, SHORING FOR LOADS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT, ETC.
3. THE CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT RESTRICT A FIVE-FOOT CLEAR AND UNOBSTRUCTED ACCESS TO ANY WATER OR POWER DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES (POWER POLES, PULL BOXES, TRANSFORMERS, VAULTS, PUMPS, VALUES,
METERS, APPURTENANCES, ETC) OR THE LOCATION OF THE HOOK-UP. THE CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT BE WITHIN TEN FEET OF ANY POWER LINES-WHETHER OR NOT THE LIENS ARE LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY. FAILURE TO
COMPLY MAY CAUSE CONSTRUCTION DELAYS AND/OR ADDITION EXPENSES.
4. CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM STRENGTH OF 2500 PSI AT 28 DAYS.
5. REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE ASTM-615, GRADE 60 DEFORMED BILLET STEEL BARS. WELDED WIRE MESH FABRIC SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM-185. BAR SPLICES IN CONCRETE POURED DIRECTLY AGAINST GROUND, 2" FOR
CONCRETE EXPOSED TO GROUND OR WEATHER BUT PLACED IN FORMS.
6. ALL CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT, ANCHOR BOLTS, AND OTHER ANCHORAGES TO CONCRETE SHALL BE ACCURATELY PLACED AND POSITIVELY SECURED AND SUPPORTED BY CONCRETE BLOCKS, METAL CHAIRS, SPACERS, OR
METAL HANGARS AND SHALL BE IN POSITION BEFORE PLACEMENT OF CONCRETE IS BEGUN.
7. ALL LUMBER SHALL BE GRADE MARKED BY AN APPROVED AGENCY TO CONFORM TO 1970 GRADING RULES FOR WESTERN LUMBER AS PUBLISHED BY W.W.P.A. OR EQUAL. IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROVISIONS OF U.S. VOLUNTARY
PRODUCT STANDARD P.S. 20-70.

9. SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE PROVIDED AS FOLLOWS: (310.9.1.3,4) IN NEW CONSTRUCTION SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL RECEIVE THEIR PRIMARY POWER SOURCE FROM THE BUILDING WIRING AND SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH
BATTERY BACK UP AND LOW BATTERY SIGNAL. CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM IS REQUIRED PER (SEC 420.6 R315)
10. WATER HEATER MUST BE STRAPPED TO WALL WITH 2 STRAP. (SEC 507.3 & LAPC)
11. AN APPROVED SEISMIC GAS SHUT OFF VALVE OR EXCESS FLOW SHUT OFF VALVE WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE FUEL GAS LINE ON THE DOWN-STREAM SIDE OF THE UTILITY METER AND BE RIGIDLY CONNECTED TO THE EXTERIOR OF
THE BUILDING OR STRUCTURE CONTAINING THE FUEL GAS PIPING @ (PER ORDINANCE 170, 158 AND 180, 670) (INCLUDES COMMERCIAL ADDITIONS AND TI WORK OVER $10,000 SEPARATE PLUMBING PERMIT IS REQUIRED).
12. PROVIDE (70) (72) INCH HIGH NON-ABSORBENT WALL ADJACENT TO SHOWER AND APPROVED SHATTER-RESISTANT MATERIALS FOR SHOWER ENCLOSURE. (807.1.3, 2406.4(5), 111B.9.6,7,8)
13. PROVIDE 1.28 GALLON ULTRA FLUSH WATER CLOSET FOR ALL NEW CONSTRUCTION. EXISTING SHOWER HEADS AND TOILETS MUST BE ADAPTED FOR LOW WATER CONSUMPTION.
14. CONSTRUCTION HOURS ARE FROM 9:00 AM UNTIL 5:00 PM., MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. NO WORKS TO OCCUR ON SUNDAY OR HOLIDAY.
