REPORTS FROM MUSEUM COMMISSION MEMBERS / LIAISONS
Commissioner Blitz commented that the Friends of the Arcadia Museum (FAM) attended the
March 1 City Council Meeting for the presentation of a check to the Gilb Museum. The FAM will
also meet on March 3.
City Council Liaison Verlato reported that on March 1, there was a City Council meeting hearing
on redistricting. Five redistricting maps are currently under consideration. The Arcadia Women's
Club was awarded Historic Landmark status through the City of Arcadia. The City will also be
doing brush clearance in the highlands with the help of the California Conservation Core. The
next City Council meeting will be March 15.
REPORT FROM THE DIRECTOR
Director Bradley reported that the Arcadia Public Library is fully open and mask mandates are still
in place.
REPORT FROM THE CURATOR
Curator Acevedo reported that the Museum Education Center was used to film This is Us. NBC
donated $7,500 for the filming of the show. The Gilb Museum was awarded the California
Revealed Cataloging California grant and has used the funds to hire an intern to catalog and
curate the Floretta K. Lauber collection. Graduate intern Patrick Michael is currently working on
the cataloging and curation of the Dr. Richard Cordano collection. The Anthony W. Wilkinson
collection on FromThePage currently has 99 collaborators and the transcription project is close
to being completed through crowdsourcing. Adult volunteer Tola Livesey is currently digitizing the
City of Arcadia newsletters, and adult volunteer Deborah Cordano is currently transcribing the
Camp Santa Anita collection. The Museum recently accessioned the Henry & Stanley Brookover
collection, which is mainly made of items relating to their family chicken farm in Arcadia. The
Friends of the Arcadia Museum cancelled their January meeting, their next meeting is on
Thursday, March 3. Curator Acevedo is currently working on a City Public Artwork project, where
she is assessing the condition and preservation plans with the help of Silverlake Conservation.
REPORT FROM THE MUSEUM EDUCATION CORDINATOR
Education Coordinator Alberto -Shaikh reported that she continues to distribute educational kits t#
the community. Currently about 265 have been given to community'members since the beginning
of 2022. Ms. Alberto -Shaikh has also been very active in conducting school programs to schools
in Arcadia, and so far, has 12 programs scheduled with Camino Grove Elementary, Longley Way
Elementary, and Baldwin Stocker Elementary. The Gilb Museum also has requests to do five Girl
Scout and Cub Scout programs. Ms. Alberto -Shaikh also reported that the Museum received two
Speakers Bureau requests and will be hosting a preservation workshop series. For marketing,
M. Alberto -Shaikh had a #SuperBOWL therned social media series that featured bowls from the
Gilb Museum's collections. Curator Acevedo and Getty Intern Michele Huizar created a new
Curator's Corner video to highlight the 80th Anniversary of Executive Order 9066. The Gilb
Museum currently has 45 volunteers, including teens and adults. Currently the volunteers have
completed 85.45 volunteer hours in the year 2022.

Commissioner Tone moved to approve Consent Calendar Item 49 a which was seconded by
Commissioner Carter, and carried on a voice vote.
