RESOLUTION NO. 11
A RESOLITTIOI>f OF THE CITY PLANNING COl,illlISSI0rI OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, RECOMMENDING THE GRAlfrnrG
OF A PETITION FOR A CONDITIONAL V ARIANCE AFFECTING
CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY LOCATED ON WEST HUNTINGTON
DRIVE, IN SAID CITY.
THE CITY PLANNING COMI.lISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO.l>S
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLm:S:
rnIEREAS, on the 17th day of August, 1949, there was filed
with this Commission the petition of Rancho Santa Anita, Inc.,
requesting a zoning variance on the following described property
in the City of Arcadia, to wit:

That portion of lot 5, "tract No. 949, as shown on map
recorded in book 17, page IS of maps, I' ecords of Los
Angeles County, California, bounded on the northwest
by Huntington Drive; on the Northeast by the property
of the Los Angeles Turf Club; on the Southeast by the
Pacific Electric Railway; and on the Southwest by Bolly
Avenue,
to permit the conduct of a golf driving range, miniature golf
range, pitch and putt golf course, badminton courts, ping-pong
courts, archery range, tennis courts, and the purveying of
refreshments usually associated with and sold at a public golf
course, and
\VHEREAS, said property is now located in a residential
zone, to wit, R-3 zone, and
tfflliREAS, after notice as required by Ordinance No. 760,
a public hearing on the matter was held before this Commission
on the 22nd day of September, 1949, and all interested parties
were given a full opportunity to be heard, and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Commission, the main-
tenance of the several commercial uses hereinbefore enumerated
in this residential zone would not be detrimental to the public
welfare nor injurious to surrounding property, nor adversely

1. A majority of property owners within a 300-foot
~adius of the property in question object to any variance that
will permit 11 business operation in a reside.ntial zone, R-3
Uultiple Family Zone;
2. The request of petitioner is contrary to the spirit
and intent of the llaster Zoning Plan of the City of Arcadia
which was adopted and became effective on June 3rd, 1949, after
a series of public hearings and which plan ~iaS unanimously
approved by the Planning Commission and the City Council;
3. The action requested by the petitioner is, in the
opinion of the commission, contrary to good planning practice
as it involves business or commercial use of this property
without due regard for the property rights of others located in
the same block.
The Secretary shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and shall forward a copy to the City Council of the
City of Arcadia.
I }illREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted by the City Planning Conmdssion on November 3rd, 1949,
by the followi~g votes:
AYES:
Mr. Anderson, Davis, Smith, Stoner and Robertson.
NOES:
None.
ABSENT: Mr. Pippin.
