RESOLUTION NO. 16.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COt~ISSION OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, RECOMMENDING THE GRANTING
OF A PETITION FOR A VARIANCE AFFECTING CERTAIN
REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 330 HUNTINGTON PLACE,
IN SAID CITY, AND HEREIl~AFTER DESCRIBED.
THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of November, 1949, there was
filed with this Commission the petition of the Roman Catholic
Archbishop of Los Angeles, the owner of the real property
located within the City of Arcadia, California, hereinafter

described, requesting a zoning variance on the following des-
cribed property in the City of Arcadia, to wit:
The westerly ninety (90) feet of Lot 43, Tract No.
11969, as shown on map recorded in Book 259, pages 36
and 37 of Maps, records in the office of the County
Recorder of Los Angeles County, and that portion of
Lot 4, Tract No. 2409, adjoining on the north, being
located at 330 Huntington Place,
to permit such property to be used for the conduct of a Catho-
lic convent, together with necessary fences, walls, garages,
driveways and entrances, and
WHEREAS, said property is now located in a residential
zone, to wit, R-l Zone, and

WHEREAS, after notice as required by Ordinance No. 760,
a public hearing on this matter was held by and before this
Commission on the first day of December, 1949, and all inter-
ested persons were given a full opportunity to be heard, and
Iv.ffEREAS, in the opinion of this Commission, the conduct
and maintenance of a convent in this residential zone would not

WHEREAS, said petitioner has undertaken and agreed to
dedicate to the City of Arcadia the southerly twenty (20) feet
of said west one-half of Lot 6 aforementioned for use as a pub-
lic alley, and that the property hereinbefore described shall
not be relieved from the levy of a special assessment under any
special assessment atatute of the State of California for the
improvement of such alley,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that public necessity
and convenience require, and that the Commission recommends to
the City Council of the City of Arcadia, that the aforesaid peti-
tion be approved and that said real property be changed in classi-
fication under the provisions of Ordinance No. 760 of said City
as follows, to wit:
The south 100 feet of the north 250 feet of the west
one half of lot 6, Tract No. 4090, as shown on map
recorded in Book 43, page 47 of Maps, records in the
office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County,
to be changed from Zone R-2 to Zone C-2 and
The said west one half of said Lot 6, excepting the
north 250 feet thereof.
to be changed from Zone R-2 to Zone PR-2 (automobile parking zone).
The Secretary shall certify to the adoption of this Re-
solution and shall forward a copy to the City Council of the City
of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopt-
ed by the City Planning Commission on December 15,1949, by the fol-
lowing votes:
