A RESOLUTION OF TIlE CITY PLANNING COMHISSION OF TlIE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFOPlUA, RECmn1ENDING TJlli CLASSIFICA'tION OF THE
BUSINESS OF SALES, RENTING AllD SERVICING OF WATER SOFTENERS.
THE CITY PLANNING COMHISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES FIND, DETEIDJINE
AND RESOLVE AS FOLID\fS:
WHEREAS, Thomas L. Howell is, and since prior to the adoption of Ordinance
No. 760 of the City of Arcadia has been engaged in the business of selling, renting
and semcing of water softeners upon property in Zone C-2 under said ordinance; and,
\m:EREAS, said Thomas L. Howell desires and proposes to establish a branch
establishment of said business upon property in Zone C-2j and,
\fHEREAS, the business of selling, renting and servicinG of water softeners
is not specifically mentioned or genera1J.y defined in the uses perIni tted in any zone
in the City of Arcadia under Ordinance 110. 760 of said city, for which reason said

Thomas L. Howell has asked that such business be classified; and,
i'lHEREAS, Section 15 of Ordinance No. 760 prov:l.des that if any "Use" is for
any reason omitted from the lists of those specified as permissible in each of the
various zones, it shall be the duty of the City Plannine Col!l!llission to ascertain all
pertinent facts concernin~ said use, and by resolution of record set forth its
findinrs and the reasons thereof, and such findings and resolutions shall be referred
to the City Council, and if approved by the City Council, thereafter such interpre-
tation shall governj and,
WHEREAS, the City Plannine Connnission has fully considered the matter and
finds that it is advisable and necessary that such business be classified;
NOW, THEREFOJE, BE IT RESOLVED that the business of sales, rentinE and
servicinC of water softeners shall be classified as a use permissible in Zone C-2
une'er Section 9 of Ordinance No. 760 of the City of Arcadia, provided that no manu-

facturing be done on any property in Zone C-2 in connection 'nth such a business.
"Servicing", as the term is used in this parac;raph, shall mean and be linri ted to the
stora['e, replacenent of fittings or materials of .Tater softeners, and to the flushing
or recharging thereof.
RESOLVE;) FURTHER that the Secretary shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution, and shall forward a copy of the sa"le to the City Council of the City of
Arcadia.

Such special use permit shall not permit the enlargement of exist-

plants, but shall not preclude the repair or modernization of such
improvement or the replacement or repair of existing fixtures or
fad Ii ties.

SECTION 5. The S~cretary shall certify to the adoption
of tbis Resolution and shall forward a oopY of same to the City
Council of the City of Arcadia.

SECTION 3. That the present nurebcr 0f chicken and poultry
dre~s1r.e plants in th~ City of Arccdia ie not excessive and is
reasonably necp-sstry for the proper and effic1ent conduct of the
chicken and poultr~ raising business. Th~t dressing plants are not
part~culorly desi~cble in thRmselves wlth~ the City, and that the
number thereof should not be incr~aeed beyond the noeds of the chiclccn
and poultry raising business within the immediate commhnity, and
that thc~r number should not be increased unle~s the necd for addition-
al dreSsing plants be clearly established.
SECTIOn 4. That for the foregoing reasons th~ public hea1tl.,

110.760 be nmended to rese. ns follows:
