RESOLUTION NO.10l A RESQLUTIcm OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE OITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING DENIAL OF A ZONE VARIANCE TO PERMIT REQUIRED PARK- 1NG SPACES WITHIN FRONT YARD AREAS. W,HEREA8, there was filed with this Commission petition of Rancho Santa Anita, Ino. as owner of the follOWing described real property in said City. to-wit: A part of Lot 6, Tract No.949. as shown on map record- ed in Book 17. Page 13 of Maps, records of Los Angeles County, described a8 follows: .Beginning at a point in the southerly line of Tract No. 12104. as shown on map recorded in Book 226. Pages 37, 38 add 39 of Maps, reoords of said County. distant 49.26 feet East from the Southwest corner of Lot 6 of said Tra.ct No.12104; thence South 4053' 10" East 195 feet to the North Hne of Hunt1ngton Drive; thence North 850 061 50" East thereon 287 feet, thence Horth 40 53' lO" West 195 feet; thence South 850 06' 50" West 287 feet to the po:f.nt of beginn1Dg. be:f.ng a parcel of land on the North side of Hunt1n@ton Dr1ve between Old Ranch Road and Golden West Avenue, . to permit a portion of the required parking for multi-family dwell- ings to be loceted in the front yard required therefor. WHEREAS, pureua.nt to notice required by lal{ public he&I'ing was beld on th1s matter on January 17, 1953, at which tlme all persons 1nterested were given full opportunity to be heard and to present ev1dence, NOW, THEREFORE, the Oi ty Planning Collllllission of the Oi ty of Arcadia does hereby dotermine and resol ve as follows: SECTION 1. That there were numerous protests to the granting of the var1ance requested, ba$ed on the contention that the granting of the variance would be detrimental to the appearance of the properties along the street, would depreciate values there- of and lTould serve as a precedent for other similaX' requests. SECTION 2. That the granting of the var1a.nee requested would be inconsistent with good planning practice and the present de- . velopment of the surrounding neighborhood. That such variance 1s unnecessary for the preservation and enjoyment of any subetantia1 property rights of the owner, and that the property is ~ell suit- ed and usa.ble for the purposes for which it is zoned without the granting of the var1anoe requested. That for the foregoing reasons this Commission recommends to the City Council of the C1ty of Arcadia that the petition for the re-c1asslfieatlon of subject property be denied. SEOTION~. The Secretary shall oertif1' to the adoption of this Resolution, and shall cause a copy of the same to be for- warded to the City Counoil of the City of Arcadia.
