RESOLUTION NO. ll~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE DENIAL OF AN APPLICATION FOR A ZONE VARIANCE TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION AND USE OF A GREEN- HOUSE IN ZONE R-l. WHEREAS, there was filed with this Commission the petition of John K. and Zabelle Asder, as owners, for a variance to permit the . following described property, to-wit: A part of Lot 7, Tract NO.948, as shown on map recorded in Book 17, Page 21 of Maps, records of Los Angeles County, described as follows: Beginning at a point in the East line of said Lot North 15 feet trom the Southeast corner thereof; thence North 89033' West 203.6 feet; thenoe North 1018.50" West to the South Line of Foothill Boulevard; thence East thereon to the East line of said lot; thence South thereon to the point of be- ginning, being located at 310 West Foothill BoUlevard, to be used for the construction, maintenance and use of a green- house 28 feet by 95 feet thereon, in addition to two existing greenhouses presently located thereonbeing 21 feet by 75 feet and 18 feet by 20 feet respectively in sizej and WHEREAS, after notice required by Ordinance No.760 of said City publiC hearing was held on the matter by and before this Com- mission on the 14th day of July, 1953, at which time all interested persons were given a full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Planning Commission of the Cit1' of Arcadia does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That there is already located and ln use on subject property two greenhouses exceeding in size the five hundred square feet permissible in Zone R-l for private gre~nhouses; that the . existing greenhouses constitute non-conforming uses. That applicants are presently engaged in the commercial bus1ness of raising and selling plants not grown in the ground, to-wit: orchids. SECTION 2. That subject property is Bell suited for the pur- poses for which it is presently zoned. That the granting of the variance requested is not necessary for the protection or preser- vation of substantial property rights of the applicants; that the further extension of commercial uses on subject property is neither ~- 115 . . . 01 " . .
