RESOLUTION NO.133
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, MAKING
CERTAIN FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS RELATIVE
TO THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF ORDINANCE NO.760
OF SAID CITY.

WHEREAS. pUl!lsuant to Seot ion 17 of Ordinance No. 760 of the
City of Arcadia, the City Planning Commission of said City did,
on September 22, 1953, pass. approve and adopt its certain Resolutipn
No.125 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IN-
STITUTE PROCEEDINGS FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF AND MAKING ITS RE-
COMMENDATIONS CONCERNING THE AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS 7, 8, 9, 10
AND 15 OF ORDINANCE NO. 760 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AND ADDING SECTION
8t THERETO.", pursuant to which notioe was duly published and given
and public hearing duly held on the lOth day of November, 1953, at
~ whioh time all persons present and interested were given full oppor-
tunity to be heard and to present evidence relative to the matter of
the proposed amendment of Ordinanoe NO.76o of said City as provided
in said Resolution No.1251 and
WHEREAS said Planning Commission having reviewed and fully con-
sidered all the evidence and testimony presented at said hearings
and reviewed the subject generally;
NOW, THEREFORE, theCity Planning Commission of the City of
Arcadia does hereby find, determine and rssolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the publio necessity, convenienoe and general
welfare require and this Commission hereby recommends to the City
Counoil of the City of Arcadia that Ordinance NO.76o of said City
e.
be amended in the following partioularsl
"That Section 2 of said Ordinance No.760 be amended by adding
thereto the follOWing definitiens: Automobile Service Station
Super-Service Station
Self-service Launderette"
That Section 7 of said Ordinance No.760 be amended by deleting
therefrom Paragraph 5 of Sub-section a of said Section 7, and~end-
ing Paragraph 8 of said Section A of said Section 7, to read as follows:
"Signs of the following charaoter only.
A. One (1) unlighted sign of not to exoeed one (1)
square foot in area attached to and parallel
with the front wall of the building, and oontaining
only the name of the occupant.

There shall be behind every building a rear yard having a minimum
dept.h of twenty (20) feet. I'lhere there is an allay at the rear of the lot,
such raar yard may be measured to the center of said alley.

A. USES PERMITTED
AIry use permitted in the C-2 zone and any of tho following uses:

1. Retail stores or businesses not involving any kind of
manufacture, processing or treatment of products other
than that which is clear~ incidental to the retail
business conducted on the premises and provided that
not more than five (5) persons are employed, and not
more than fifty (So) per cent of the floor area of the
building is used, in the manufacture; processing or
treatment of products, and that such operations or pro-
ducts are not objectionable due to noise. odor, dust~
smoke, vibration, or other similar causes, and provided
also that unless otherwise permitted all. such manu-
facturing, processing or treatment of products shall be
conducted inside of buildings.

The above specified stores, shops or businesses shall be retail
establishments selling new merchandise exclusively and shall be
only undor the following conditions:
a. Such stores, shops or businesses~ except automobile service
stations shall be conducted entirely within an inclosed building of not
to exceed five thousand (~OO) square feet of floor area.
b. Products made incidental to a parmi tted use shall be sold at
retail on the prom:i.ses.
c. No public entrances to such stores. shops or businesses shall be
located on the side street of a corner lot nearer than one hundred (100)
feet to property in any ItRIt zone.
d. My exterior sign displayed shall pertain only to a use conducted
within the building; shall be a~tached to and be parallel with and not
more than six (6) inchos from the wall of the main building or from the
front of a marquee fronting the principal stree~. a parting area in tho
rear or. in the case of a corner buildl.ng: on that portion of the side
street wall within fifty (50) feet of the principal street. In no case
shall a sign project above the roof line.
