HomeMy WebLinkAbout0147 p' . . . ~ . . RESOLUTION NO. 147 \ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA. CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE EXTENSION OF AN EXISTING VARIANCE TO PERMIT ADDITIONAL PROPERTY TO BE USED FOR LIGHT MANU- FACTURING PURPOSES AND OFF-STaEET PARKING IN CONNECTION THEREWITH. WHEREAS, there was filed wi th this Commission the appli- cation of the Industrial Brush Company, Inc., for the extension of an existing variance to permit the further expansion of light manufacturing uses on property now subjeot to a variance for off- .treet vehicle parking in connection with the existing light manufacturing business, and to use other nearby property for vehi- cle off-street parking in connection with such light manufacturing business; and WHEREAS, after due notice as required by law a publio hearing thereon was held by and before this Commission on Maroh 9, 1954, at which time all persons interested were given a full oppor- tunity to be heard and to present evidenoe; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia. California, does hereby find, resolve and recommend as follows: SECTION 1. That there were no protests, oral or written, to the granting of the requested varianoe; SECTION 2. That on July 8, 1952, under and by its Reso- lution No. 78, this Commission made certain findings concerning that portion of subject property now devoted to light manufacturing pur- poses to-wit: ~That the subject property constitutes an island surrounded by manufacturing businesses. The subject property is not reasonably usable for purely retail purposes for which it is presently ~oned. The surrounding properties are either zoned for or used for non- conforming uses and are being used for manufacturing purposes. The / - 1 - r " " 147 - -,' '. . . . . /~of existing structures into professional off:lc es and rooming houses to the detriment of property values in the area; that par- ticularly, but not solely, by reason of the recent acquisition of subject property, the requested reclassification is not necessary for the preservation or protection of substantial property rights' of the applicants. SECTION 2. That for each of' t he foregoing reasons, this Commission recommends that the petition for reclassification from Zones R-l and R-2 to Zone R-3 of the property on the east side of First Avenue between the American Legion Club House and Foothill Boulevard in the City of Arcadia be denied. SECTION 3. The Secretary Shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and Shall cause a copy of the same to be for- . warded to the City Council of the City of Arcadia.
