RESOLUTION NO. 240
.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA. RECOMMENDING THE
RECLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY ON NORTH FIRST AVENUE FROM
ZONE R-l TO ZONE R-2.
WHEREAS, there were numerous applications filed with
this Commission requesting change of zone for various parcelS on
North First Avenue between Colorado Boulevard and Foothill Boule-
vardj and,
WHEREAS, this Commission was of the opinion that consid-
eration should be given to the reclassification from Zone R-l to
Zone R-2 of certain real property on the east side of First Avenue
between Colorado Boulevard and Foothill Boulevard in the City of
... Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, described as
follows, to wit:
A portion of Lots 11 and 12, Block 89, Santa
Anita Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book
34, pages 41 and 42, Miscellaneous Records of
Los Angeles County, described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the south line of Lot
12 distant 116 feet east of the east line of
First Avenue; thence north parallel ~dth the
east line of First Avenue to a point 105.92
feet south from the south line of Foothill
Boulevard; thence east parallel with the south
line of Foothill Boulevard to the west line of
the flood control easement fur Santa Anita
Wash; thence southeasterly along the west line
of said easement to the south line of Lot Ilj
thence west to the point of beginning, being
property located at the rear of the dwellings
at 900 North First Avenue to 1010 North First
Avenue, inclusivej

and did therefore on its own motion, under and by Resolution No.
235, institute proceedings for such purpose; and,
WHEREAS, after notice required by Ordinance No. 760, as
amended, of said City, a public hearing was duly held on the matter
by and before this Commission on the 8th day of January, 1957, which
hearing was duly continued to January 22, 1957, at which times all
interested persons were given a full opportunity to be heard and to
resent evidence;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION HEREBY
"e DETERMINES AND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That subject properties conSist of deep lots
fronting on North First Avenue. That the front portions are zoned
R-2 and the rear portions are zoned R-I. That there is no access
to the rear portions other than through the front portions of the
lots, nor is there any likelihood that other access will be pro-
vided to the rear portions of the lots. That it is neither practi-
cal nor desirable to limit the development of the rear portions of
the subject property to R-l use while the front portions are or
may be used for R-2 purposes.

SECTION 2. That for the foregoing reasons this CommiS-
sion recommends to the Arcadia City Council that the foregoing
property be reclassified from Zone R-l to Zone R-2 to coincide
with the street frontage of the properties.
SECTION 3. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and shall cause a copy of the same to be for-
warded to the City Council of the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission held
on the 22nd day of .~nuary, 1957, by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Acker, Balser, Daly, Sorenson and
Vachon
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioners Pra~t and Robertson
