RESOLUTION NO. 231 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, RECO~mNDING THE GRANTING OF A VARIANCE FOR ENLARGEMENT OF COVERED LOADING AREAS AT 122 NORTH SANTA ANITA AVENUE. . WHEREAS, there was filed with this Commission on July 30, 1956, the application of the Model Linen Supply Company, Inc., signed by Nathan Schlesinger, president, as ovmer, for a zone vari- ance to permit the following described property in the county of Los Angeles, State of California, to wit: Lots 32, 33 and 34, Block 76, Santa Anita Tract, as shown on map recorded in Book 15, pages 89 and 90, ~liscellaneous Records of said County, which is located at 122 North Santa Anita Avenue, to allow the en- 1argement of existing covered loading areas on the east and south sides of the present laundry building; and, WHEREAS, after notice required by Ordinance No. 760, as amended, of said City, a public hearing was duly held on the matter by and before this Commission on August 28, 1956, Vlhich hearing was duly continued to September 11, 1956, at which times all interested. persons were given a full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY PLANNING COMlIlISSION HEREBY DETER- ~lINES AND RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the only protestants spoke against the present operation of the laundry rather than the granting of the . variance; that a variance had previously been granted on subject property to permit the erection and operation of the laundry; that property to the east and to the north of subject property is pres- ently zoned M-l and that the operation of a laundry is a use per- missible in an M-l Zone; that the proposed change for which the variance is requested is a minor one, but that it would not only . 1.1 , -1- 231 / ..,.. . . . improve the laundry I 6 facilities but would relieve parking and traffic congestion. SECTION 2. That the public welfare and convenience rea- sonably require the requested variance and such use will not be in- consistent with good planning practice, nor with the provisions of the master zoning plan, nor with the present or prospective develop- ment of the neighborhood in which the property is located. SECTION 3. That for the foregoing reasons, this Commis- $ion recommends to the City Council of the City of Arcadia that a variance be granted to permit the enlargement of the existine cov- ered loading areas on the east and south sides of the present laundry building on the real property hereinbefore described. SECTION 4. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption . of this Resolution and shall cause a copy to be forwarded to the City CoUncil of the City of Arcadia.
