RESOLUTION NO. 161 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE DENIAL OF THE PETITION FOR A VARIANCE TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF A CHURCH ON PROPERTY IN ZONE B-1 WHEREAS, there was filed with this Commission the peti- tion of Leona S. Collomb for a zone variance affecting the follow- ing described property: Lot 50, Tract No. 3430, as shown on map recorded in Book 42, page 32 of Msps, records of Los Angeles County; Lt.)- "71 'r;: J./ Jr ~" to pel'lllit the same to be used for the construction and maintenance of a church and Sunday school, as in said petition more fully set forth; and, WHEREAS, after due notice as required by law, a public hearing on the matter was held by and before this Commission on June 22, 1954" at which time all interested persons were given full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence; and this Commis- sion having fully considered the matter; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That there were numerous protests to the granting of the requested variance filed and made by pr<?perty owners and residents in the area; that the granting of the requested vari- ance is not necessary for the preservation or enjoyment of the substantial property rights of the applicant possessed by other property in the sane vicinity or zone; that adjacent property in the area abutting Duarte Road is zoned R-l. the SSIne as applicant t s property. that from the evidence received, it is apparent that presently these properties, including applicant's property, ar~well suited for the purposes for which they are zoned and have been so devel- oped and used; that no exceptional or extraordinary circumstances or conditions were shown to be applicable to the property involved - 1 - ,A{ / rc:.-:; , , /' . 161 " , . . . . . " or to the intended use of the property that de not apply generally to property 1n the same zone or vicinity. That the maintenance and operation of a church at said location will seriously add to the traffic and congestion already excessive on sai d street. SECTION 2. For the foregoing reasons this Commission recommends to the City Council of the City of Arcadia that the said petition of Leona S. Collomb for a zone variance affecting the property hereinabove described be denied. SECTION 3. The Secretary ahall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall cause a copy of the same to be for- warded to the City Council of the City o~ Arcadia. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission held on July 'Zl, 1954, by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Daly, Knopp, Robertson,Sorenson and Balser NOES: None ABSENT: Commissioners Anderson and Pratt ~ ATTEST: -, " ~ - 2. - 161
