RESOLUTION NO. 345
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMIIUSSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING AND
MAKING RECOIIlMENDATIONS CONCERNING
THE RECLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN ANNEXATION 17-A, SOUTHWEST
ARCADIA INHABITED, LYING SOUTH OF
LEMON AVENUE IN SAID CITY, AND FIXING
THE DATE, HOUR AND PLACE OF A PUBLIC
HEARING FOR SUCH PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the annexation to the City of Arcadia of terri-
tory designated as Annexation No. 17-A, Southwest Arcadia Inhab-
ited, was completed on May 13, 1959; and,
WHEREAS, no portion of said territory was reclassified
concurrently with its annexation to the City of Arcadia; and,
WHEREAS, Section 3, Subsection D-l of Ordinance No. 760
of the City of Arcadia, as amended, prOVides that all property an-
nexed to the City of Arcadia and not otherwise classified concur-
rent1y with its annexation is classified and placed in Zone R-1;
and,
WHEREAS, most or the properties within aforesaid terri-
tory annexed to the City of Arcadia are presently improved for pur-
poses and devoted to uses other than purposes and uses specified
as permissible in Zone R-l of aforesaid Ordinance No. 760 of the
City of Arcadia, as amended, and accordingly many buildings and
uses are nonconforming under aforesaid Ordinance No. 760; and,
WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Commission consideration
Should be given to the reclassification of aforesaid territory
thuB annexed to the City of Arcadia from Zone R-l to some mOre ap-
propriate classification; and,
WHEREAS, due to the size of the territory thus annexed
and the divergent uses contained in the entire territory, the pub-
lic welfare and convenience will best be served if the reclassifi-
cation of only a portion of aforesaid territory be considered at
one time;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public health, convenience and gen-
eral welfare of the City of Arcadia and the inhabitants thereof re-
quire the consideration of and the institution of proceedings for
the purpose of considering and making recommendations concerning
the reclassification from Zone R-l to some less restrictive residen-
tial or commercial zone of all that portion of the real property
contained in aforesaid Annexation l7-A, Southwest Arcadia Inhabited,
lying south of the south line of Lemon Avenue in said City of Ar-
cadia.
SECTION 2. That the City Planning Commission does hereby,
. on its own motion, institute proceedings for said purposes. That
Tuesday, October 13, 1959, at the hour of 8;00 o'clock P.M., in the
Council Chamber in the City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Ar-
cadia, California, is hereby fixed and determined as the date, hour
and place of the hearing for the consideration of such matters and
for the purpose of receiving all proper evidence and testimony
relevant thereto.
SECTION 3. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause to be given notice of the date,
place and purpose of said hearing in the manner required by law.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission held on the
25th day of August, 1959, by the following vote:
