RESOLUTION NO. 340

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS
AND RECuNr-lENDATIONS RELATIVE TO TI-IE
PROPOSED AYffiNDMENT OF SECTION 15 OF
ORDINANCE NO. 760 OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 16 of Ordinance No. 760 of
the City of Arcadia, as amended, the City Planning Comnussion of
the City of Arcadia did, on December 23, 1958, pass, approve and
adopt its certain Resolution No. 321 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF

THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO INSTITUTE PROCEEDINGS FOR TH~ PURPOSE
OF CONSIDERING AND MAIliNG RECOMMENDI-\.TIONS CONCERNING THE M1EJ\1D-
MENT OF ORDINANCE NO. 760 BY Af.'IENDING SECTION 15 THEREOF AND
OTHER PERTINENT SECTIONS TO REQUIRE THE MAINTENANCE OF AI'l UNOB-
STRUCTED REAR YARD MEASURED FROM THE REAR LOT LINE UNDER SPECIFIED
CONDITIONS," pursuant to which notice was duly published and given
and a public hearing duly held on the 24th day of February, 1959,
which hearing was duly continued to March 10, 1959, still further
continued to March 24, 1959, again continued to May 12, 1959, again
continued to June 9, 1959, again continued to June 23, 1959 and
still further continued to July 14, 1959 and again to JUly 28,
1959, at each of which times all interested persons were given a
full opportunity to be heard a~d to present evidence relative to
the proposed a~endment of Ordinance No. 760 of said City as pro-

vided in said Resolution No. 321; and,
vffiEREAS, said Planning Commission has fully reviewed and
considered the subject generally;

N01II, THEREFORE, THE CITY PLANNING COlIjJvIISSION OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES H~REBY FIND, DETERMINE, RESOLVE AND
RECOl~D AS FoLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That a physical inspection of the properties

within the City of Arcadia presently zoned R-3 disclosed that so
.. much thereof is already improved with substantial structures upon
and across the rear portions thereof that the requirinG of rear
yards, as proposed for consideration under said Resolution No. 32l,
would not accomplish uniform rear open yards in these areas; in few
if any instances would facilitate the opening or extension of alleys;
and would result in inaccessible rear yards in some localitites
thereby creating fire hazards a:nd causing los's of property by reason
of inaccessibility.
SECTION 2. That for the foregoing reasons the proeeed-
ings heretofore instituted by and pursuant to aforesaid Resollttion
No. 321 for the amendment of rear yard requirements should be ter-
minated.
SECTION 3. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption
. of this Resolution and shall cause a copy of the s~ne to be for-
warded to the City COlillcil of the City of Arcadia.
I H~REBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission held on the
11th
day of August
, 1959, by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Acker, Davison, Forman, Norton, Stout
and Vlallin
