RESOLUTION NO. 309
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, RECONMENDING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY AT THE CORNER OF LAS
TUNAS DRIVE AND BALDl'lIN AVENUE IN
SAID CITY IN ZONE D (ARCHITECTURAL
OVERLAY) IN ADDITION TO THE BASIC
ZONING APPLICABLE OR TO BECOME
APPLICABLE TO SAID PROPERTY AND
SPECIFYING ARCHITECTURAL
RESTRICTIONS TO BE IMPOSED THEREON
UNDER SUCH ZONE D.
WHEREAS, after hearings by and before this Commission and
the City Council, instituted by the application of Ralph D. Stogs-
dill, as owner, for a zone reclassification from Zones C-l to C-2,

R-l to C-2 and R-l to PR-3, the City Council has determined that
the following described property in Tract No. 6641, per map re-
corded in Book 126, page 67, of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County,
should be reclassified as follows:
Lots 23, 24 and 25, from Zone C-I to Zone C-2;
Lot 26, from Zone R-l to Zone C-2; and
Lot 27, from Zone R-l to Zone PR-3;
and has further determined that consideration should be given to
the placing of said property in Zone D concurrent with such reclassi-
fication; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the foregoing, the City Planning Com-
mission did on its own motion and under and pursuant to its Resolu-
tion No. 302, adopted July 8, 1958, institute proceedings for the
. purpose of considering and making recommendations concerning the re-
classification of said property to Zone D in addition to the basic
zoning applicable or to become applicable thereto, and concerning
architectural restrictions to be imposed thereon under such Zone
D, pursuant to which a publiC hearing was held on August 12, 1958,
which said hearing was duly and regularly continued to August 26,

1958, at each of which times all interested persons were given full
opportunity to be heard and to present evidence;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION DOES HEREBY
FIND, DETERMINE, RESOLVE AND RECOl'I/MEND AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That if the aforesaid property is to be re-
classified as indicated by the City Council, concurrent with such
reclassification the above described property should likewise be
placed in Zone D (Architectural Overlay) in addition to the basic
zoning applicable or to become applicable thereto, and that the
following restrictions should be made applicable thereto under said
Zone D (Architectural Overlay) :
a. No building shall exceed one story in height;
b. Every exterior sign shall pertain only to a use con-
ducted within the building, shall be attached to and be parallel
with and not more than six (6) inches from the wall to which it is
attached. No exterior sign shall project above the roof of the
main building and shall be located in none other than the following
locations:

(1) On the wall of the main building fronting the
principal street;
(2) On the front of a marquee fronting the principal
street;
(3) On a wall facing a parking area in the rear of
the main building;
(4) In the case of a corner building, also on that
portion of the side street wall within fifty (50) feet of the
principal street.
c. All flood lighting shall be directed away from ad-
joining properties.
d. A solid masonry wall six (6) feet in height shall be

. constructed on the property line wherever Zone C-2 directly abuts
property zoned solely for residential purposes except that such
wall shall be only four (4) feet in height from the east prop-
erty line to the building setback line of such adjacent residen-
tial property.
SECTION 2. That the uses of property specified in Sub-
sections 3, 4, 7, 8, 14, 16, l7, 19, 20, 22, 29, 30, 36, 37, 38
and 41, Part A, Section 9, of Ordinance No. 760, as amended by
Ordinance No. 900 be prohibited upon the above described property.
SECTION 3. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption

of this Resolution and shall cause a copy to be forwarded to the
City Council of the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission, held on the
lOth day of September ,1958, by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Acker, Forman, Robertson, Vachon
and Stout
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioners Davison and lfdchler
