FOR THE CONVERSION OF AN AUTOMOBILE SERVICE STATION TO
AN AUTOMOBILE SELF-SERVICE STATION AT 5 WEST FOOTHILL
BOULEVARD.
GENTLEMEN:

Attached for your information are correspondence from Ed Schreiner
(the station operator), Resolution No. 1226, and the Planning
Department's staff report.
Pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality
Act, the Planning Department has prepared an initial study for the
proposed project. Said initial study did not disclose any substan-
tial or potentially substantial adverse change in any of the physical
conditions within the area affected by the project including land,
air, water, minerals, flora, fauna, ambient noise, and objects of
historical or aesthetic significance. Therefore, a Negative Declara-
tion has been prepared for this project.
Following the City Council's public hearing, if the Council determines
that Condition No.3 should be modified or deleted, the Council should
"move to approve and file the Negative Declaration and find that
the project will not have a significant effect on the environment
and direct the City Attorney to prepare the appropriate resolution
for subsequent adoption, incorporating the Council's desired changes~

Re: Storace shed located in the Nil rear corner of Ed's Arco Service
In your review of the matter involVing the above mentioned storage
shed, I ask that you rule in favor of keeping it for a period of
one year.
It cUrrently houses: business tax records and correspondin~ paper-
work; customer files on service performed; extra repair equipment
needed pericdiocallYi and, supplies for maintainence and repair.
We buy paper prcducts in bulk lots to save costs.
Having the stled locat.ed on the property allows quick and easy access
to all of those items...whereas a public storage space would mean
wasted travel tiwe almost daily.
It is impossible to store everything inside the service station,
there just i~n't any rooml
Thank you for your consideration and understanding in this aatter.
