MOTION TO EXCUSE — Trustee Renfrew moved to excuse Trustee Seaver from today's Library
Board of Trustees ) meeting so he could be with his family for the birth of a
grandchild. Trustee Wang seconded the motion, which passed on a voice vote.

REPORTS FROM LIBRARY TRUSTEES I LIAISONS: Chair Carter welcomed Councilmember
Wang to the Library Board meeting. Councilmember Wang thanked everyone for their service
and expressed her appreciation for the library. She discussed upcoming Chinese New Year
events at the City's Recreation Center and an event sponsored by San Gabriel Valley Chamber
of Commerce. Chair Carter recounted her visit to a book sale at the Newport Beach Public Library.
She shared her concerns about recent attempts to ban books from school libraries. Trustee
Renfrew explained her role as liaison to the Friends of the Library and promoted the upcoming
book sale. She discussed the upcoming classical guitar concert scheduled for April 12, 2023 and
a paint night event. Bookstore staff will be meeting on Saturday. Trustee Liao updated the Board
on ACA events.

Director's Update: Director Bradley thanked the Board for their annual gift of cookies during the
holiday season and wished everyone a happy New Year.
Monthly Statistical Report: November 2022, December 2022: The gate count for December is
inaccurate: in preparation for new RFID gates, the security gates were removed early in the
month, so no count was available. The Director reported that circulation continues to increase,
although the statistics for December are also a bit off because the self -check stations were
unavailable due to the RFID installation. There has been a change in how the monthly total is
tallied: in-house use is no longer included as a large weeding project has been under way and
skewing this number. The monthly count should be more accurate now. The new credit-card
machines have arrived and are waiting installation by an outside vendor. Cataloging and
