HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB Public Hearing Minutes- 1111 San CarlosSanta Anita Oaks Homeowners Association Architectural Review Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, November 17, 2022 CALL TO ORDER - Chair Tom Walker called the remote meeting to order at 5:14 PM PURPOSE – Hearing for proposed new home at 1111 San Carlos Road, Arcadia ATTENDEES - Tom Walker (chair, ARB) Matt Rimmer (ARB) Vince Vargas (ARB) Jessica Louie (ARB) Loren Brodhead (ARB) Philip Chan (architect) Tom Nguyen (owner) BACKGROUND – Plans were submitted to the ARB by Philip Chan, architect, for a new two-story house at 1111 San Carlos Road. Tom and Michelle Nguyen are the owners of the property which currently has a one-story house. PUBLIC COMMENTS – Loren Brodhead – Objected to the front courtyard. Architect agreed to make modifications. Noted that the door arches and rectangular windows were incongruous. Architect agreed to make changes. Asked to add two oak trees in front. Architect agreed. Jessica Louie – Objected to courtyard and noted it was a safety hazard. Vince Vargas – The focus of the house is confusing. Entry is redundant. Move driveway closer to the home. Consider removing the balcony in the back. The chair then proposed a continuation meeting to review the proposed modifications which was seconded and agreed to by the ARB. Santa Anita Oaks Homeowners Association Architectural Review Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, January 10, 2023 CALL TO ORDER - Chair Tom Walker called the remote meeting to order at 5:00 PM PURPOSE – Continuation of hearing for proposed new home at 1111 San Carlos Road, Arcadia ATTENDEES - Tom Walker (chair, ARB) Matt Rimmer (ARB) Vince Vargas (ARB) Jessica Louie (ARB) Loren Brodhead (ARB) Gabriel Rousset (ARB) Philip Chan (architect) Gil Perez (neighbor) Tom Nguyen (owner) BACKGROUND – Philip Chan, architect, presented the revised plans and described the changes made. Questions were asked and consensus was reached on all issues. The changes and issues are summarized as follows: - The courtyard was removed - The rectangular windows in the front were changed to arched windows - Oak trees were added to the landscape plan - Driveway was moved closer to the house - Balcony in the back was removed - Garden wall will be less than 24” high - The front gate was eliminated - The wall next to the front door was removed - The front fence was removed - Pool plans to be submitted with no waterfall features The chair then called for a vote resulting in unanimous approval: Tom Walker (Yes) Matt Rimmer (Yes) Vince Vargas (Yes) Jessica Louie (Yes) Loren Brodhead (Yes) Gabriel Rousset (Yes) Meeting was closed at 6:57 PM.
