RESOLUTION NO. 502
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION OF SPECIFIED PROPERTIES
INTO ZONE H SPECIAL HEIGHT ZONE, IN
ADDITION TO THE BASIC ZONE APPLICABLE
THERETO.
THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION, 1. 'l'hat this Commission did on its own motion
by Resolution No. 497 adopted on September 10, 1963, institute,pro-
ceedings for the purpose of holding hearings, considering and making
findings and recommendations concerning the classification into
.
Zone H Special Height Zone, in addition to the basic zone already
applicable thereto, of all of or any portion of the property therein
described, pursuant to which a public hearing was, after notice as
required by law, dUly held for such purpose by and before this Com-
mission on October 8, 1963, which hearing was duly continued to
October 29, 1963, and again continued to November 12, 1963, .at all
of which times all interested persons were given full opportunity
to be heard and to present evidence.
SECTION 2. That the area hereinafter described is bisected
by two major arterial streets which intersect near the central por-
tion of said area. That said area is the only area in town having
more than one building in excess of two (2) stories in height. That

said area is already densely developed as an office and shopping
center with little additional space available fo~ further horizontal
expansion. That the H Zone classification of said area will be highly
compatible with the newer improvements constructed in the area and
will foster a redevelopment of the older structures in the area more
compatible with present day development trends and the more recent
improvements constructed in the area.

SECTION 3. That for the foregoing reasons this Commission

recommends that the following property in the City of Arcadia, County
of Los Angeles, State of California, described as follows:
Beginning in the south line of Fairview Avenu~ 60
feet wide, distant thereon west 170 feet from the
northwest corner of Lot 34, Tract No. 3430, as
recorded in Map Book 42, page 32; thence southerly
parallel with the west line of said Lot 207.54
feet; thence easterly parallel with the north line
of Lot 36 of said Tract to the west line of Lot
34 of said Tract; thence southerly along the
westerly line of Lot 34 to the southwest corner
thereof; thence easterly along the northerly line
of Lots 41, 42 and 43 to the intersection with
the easterly line of the West 1/2 of Lot 43 of
sald Tract; thence southerly along said easterly
line to the southerly line of said Lot 43; thence
southwesterly in a direct line to the northeast
corner of Lot 4, Tract No. 4090, as recorded in
Map Book 43, page 47; thence southerly along said
Lot line and its southerly prolongation to the
southwest corner of Lot 16, Tract No. 4611, as
recorded in Map Book 51, page 82; thence south-
easterly in a direct line to a point in the
northerly line of Lot 17 of said Tract 4611,
distant thereon 9 feet east of the northwest
corner of said Lot 17; thence southerly parallel
with the westerly line of said Lot 17 to the
southerly line of said Lot; thence westerly along
sald southerly Lot and Tract line to the centerline
of Baldwin Avenue; thence northerly along said
ceuterline to its intersection with the centerline
of Naomi Avenue as shown on Map of Tract 6925,
recorded in Map Book 74, page 79; thence westerly
along last mentioned centerline to the intersection
with the ~outherly prolongation of westerly line
of Lot 19 of said Tract No. 6925; thence northerly
along said prolongation and westerly line and its
northerly prolongation to the northwest corner of
Lot 9 of said Tract No. 6925; thence northeasterly
in a direct line to a point in the southerly lot
line of Lot 123, Tract No. 2731, as recorded in
Map Book 33, page 29, said point being distant
east, 157.64 feet from the southwest corner of said
Lot 123; thence northerly parallel with the west
line of said Lot to the north line thereof; thence
east 20 feet along said north lot line; thence north
parallel with and distant east 177 feet from the
west line of Lot 122 to the nortn line of said Lot
122; thence northeasterly in a direct line to a
pOint in the south line of Lot 5, Tract 5220, as
recorded in Map Book 55, page 2, said point being
150 feet westerly as measured at right angles to the
west line of Baldwin Avenue, 60 feet wide, as shown
on the Map of said Tract 5220; thence northeasterly
parallel with said Baldwin Avenue to the south line
of Fairview Avenue; thence easterly along last
mentioned line to the point of beginning.

SECTION 4. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and shall cause a copy of the same to be forwarded
to the City Council of the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission held on the
26th day of November, 1963, by the following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Forman, Golisch, Hanson, Kuyper,
Norton and Ferguson
NOES: Commissioner Parker
ABSENT: None
