RESOLUTION No. 901
A RESOLUTION"OF"THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF. THE. 'CITY' OF"'ARCADIA"'RECOMMENDING APPROVAL
OF A'T.A. 75-5 'RELATING TO"ADVERTISI'NG SIGN
BOARDS" 'TO PERMIT SUCH SIGNS IN' ZONE M,..l OR
ANY LESS RESTRICTIVE ZONE ON"A CONDITIONAL
USE BASIS.
WHEREAS, the Planning'Commission on its ow,n motion held a
public hearing on June 24, 1975 to consider amending the contional use
permit section relating to advertising sign boards ;;'lnd adding minimum
standards which shall be applied to conditional use permit applications
for advertising sign boards; and
WHEREAS, all interested 'persons were given full opportunity
to be heard and. 'present evidence;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF 'THE CITY OF ARCADIA
RECOMMENDS TO THE" 'CITY COUNCIL:
SECTION 1. That section 9275.1. 37 be amended to, read as
follows:
"9275.-1.37,'ADVERTISING SIGN' BOARD.' 'M,..:!.. 'or any,'less restrictive
industrial zone, provided that such signs 'sha'll comply with the following
regulations:
A. Definitiop.: An 'advertising sign board is one which stands
by itself and is not dependent on abuilding for its support.
B. Location.
1. No part 'of , an"advertising sign board or any part of the
sign board projected 'vertically shall be less than three feet (3') from
any building.

2. No, advertising' sign'board shall be permitted on a
lot which contains another advertising sign beard, freestanding sign,
projecting sign or non-conforming sign or non-conforming use.
3. No advertising' sign ,board shall be located within
one hundred feet (100') of' any residentially zoned property.
C. Number of'advertising sign boards: One' advertising
sign board on anyone lot', provided on'ly one 'advertising sign board
shall be permitted on contiguous lots which are eccupied by a single
business or are occupied by two '(2) or more businesses which use or
have the privilege of using a 'common parking 'area located on one or
more of said lots.
D. Size,'- Area: The" maximum area of:'an advertising sign
board, inciuding,all faces', 'shall be based upon" the tot frontage or
the total frontage of all contiguous lots as descr,ibed in "C", above,
and shall" be in, accord. ,with the following schedu-le; no one face shall
exceed one,-half 'of."said maximum:
FRONTAGE MAXIMUM: ,AREA
Up to. 51' 100 square feE;!t
51' to 150' ISO square feet
150' to 250' 200 square feet
250' to 350' 250 square feet
350' or more 350 square feet
E. Height - Clearance: No part of. an advertising sign board
shall exceed twenty-five feet (25') in height. No part of an adver-
tising sign board shall have a' clearance of less than eight feet (8')
over a pedestrian way and fifteen'<fee,t (15') 'over,.a"vehicular way,

F. Projection: An advertising sign board ma~ extend a maxi-
mum of one foot (1') into'a public way.
G. Landscaping - Irrigation: The entire lot upon which an
advertising sign board 'is located shall be landscaped, permanently i~ri-
gated and maintained in' ac.cordance with landscape and irrigation plans
which shall be submitted to and subje,ct to the approval of the Director
of Planning, except for that pa~t of a lot which is occupied by a
building, parking 'area 'or"driveway. "
