RESOLUTION NO. 828
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMI,SSION
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA RECOMMENDING
PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR PLACES OF
ASSEMBLY.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission on its own motion
held a public hearing on August 28, 1973, to consider certain
changes in the zoning ordinance relating to parking requirements
for places of assembly; and
WHEREAS, all interested persons were given full
opportunity to be heard and to present evidence;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA HEREBY RECOMMENDS TO THE CITY COUNCIL THE FOLLOWING
ADDITION TO THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL CODE:
SECTION 1. That Title 6 be added to Division 5,
Part 7, Chapter 2 of Article IX to read as follows:
"ARTICLE IX.
CHAPTER 2 .
pART 7.
DIvISION 5.
TITLE 6.
DIVISION AND USE OF LAND
ZONING REGULATIONS
OVERLAY AND SPECIAL ZONES
CONDITIONAL USES
PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR PLACES OF
ASSEMBLY.
9275.6. PARKING. REQUIREMENTS FOR PLACES OF ASSEMBLY.
That for churches, community buildings, libraries, public buildings,
recreational centers, schools, theaters, and other' similar places

of assembly, one (1) parking space shall be provided for every
four (4) fixed seats or for every thirty-five (35) square feet
of floor area in the seating area when nonpermanent seating is
used. Each twenty-four (24) inches of seating space on a bench
shall count as one (1) seat,."
SECTION 2. The Planning Commission finds that the
public necessity, convenience, general welf'are and good zoning
practice justify the above recommendation.

SECTION 3. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause a copy to be forwarded to the
City Council of the City o~ Arcadia.

PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR PLACES OF
ASSEMBLY
The Planning' Commission.at its meeting of July 24,
considered the staff' report 'regarding parking in places
of public assembly and requested.that staff' prepare a
text amendment to implement the ,recommendations"of the
report.
The Planning Department recommends the following
text amendment which would set forth parking require-
ments for places of public assembly.

1973, at the hour of 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of
the City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California,
said Planning Commission will hold a public hearing for the
cons i derati on of certai n changes in the Zoning Ordi nance"
relating to parking requirements for places of assembly.
At sald public hearing an opportunity will be afforded
to all i ntE!res ted persons and the pub 1 i c general, to be
heard on the items set forth above.
