He has asked. that you have a formal resolution ready for adoption at the meeting. Temple Los Angeles, California " Gentlemen: The City of Arcadia Planning Commission would like to express its concern over recent commercial signing and 'i'"'\itiire signing proposals in the unincorporated county area between Arcadia and pasadena, adjacent to the westerly extension of the Foothill Freeway. Our concern \'Ias generated by a recent proposal to erect a serVice station free standing sign on a commercially zoned site at Colorado and Michillinda which is imme- diately adjacent to residentially zoned property within the City of Arcadia. The pylons for this sign have already been installed and appear to be in excess of 100 ft. in height, and it is our understanding that the completed sign would be approximately 120 ft. in height. The ~isual impact of this ~ign would seriously ~ct a large portion 01' a fine residential area of this City, , It is also our understanding that there are~specific ~ign lleight regulations for this type of sign in County areas, The City of Arcadia has attempted to regulate signing within its city limits. While providing for the dissemi- nation of products and services information through signing we attempt to protect and maintain the fine residential character of the City, I ~ MAILING ADDRESSES CITY H.ll"LL P. The Arcadia ~ Planning Commission therefore wou like to recommend that the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission investigate and initiate signing regulations which would regulate signing proposals within close proximity to incorporated cities with more restrictive regulations or areas of contrasting zoning. . .
