RESOLUTION NO. 667
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA EXPRESSING THE GRATITUDE
OF THE COMMISSION TO CHESTER N. HOWARD FOR HIS
CONTRIBUTIONS ON THE BALDWIN A VENUE WIDENING
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the widening and improvement of Baldwin Avenue
in the City of Arcadia has just been completed; and,
WHEREAS, the design of the improvement incorporates
esthetic features which greatly enhance the appearance of Baldwin
Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, CHESTER N. HOWARD, Director of Public Works,
from the beginning of the project recognized the deSirability of
.
incorporating esthetic features into the roadway improvement; and,
WHEREAS, imaginative planning of the project made it
possible to construct a landscaped median strip which normally is
not possible in an improvement of this type; and,
WHEREAS, the design and construction of the project was
carried out under the supervision of CHESTER N. HOWARD:
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Planning Commission of the City
of Arcadia does hereby acknowledge the excellent design of the
Baldwin Avenue improvement and expresses its gratitude to CHESTER
.
N. HOWARD for his ,contributions to a project which is both functional
and esthetically pleasing.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission held on the
26th day of November, 1968.

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION NO. 667
Cammendation Chester N. Howard
Gentlemen:
The Planning Commission adopted the attached resolution
commending the Director of Public Works for the fine spirit
of cooperation displayed in revising the construction plans
for the improvement of Baldwin Avenue to incorporate 0
landscaped median strip.
.
This kind of cooperation assures the citizens of Arcadia that
a balance between necessary publ ic improvements and aesthetic
considerations is indeed not only possible but can be accompr'ished.
'The result is a more ottractive, livable environment which we
feel enhances Arcadia's reputation as an outstanding comm~nity.
