RESOLUTION NO. 625
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THE AMENDMENT
OF THE ARCADIA MUNICIPAL CODE BY
AMENDING SECTION 9275.4.8 THEREOF.
THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES DETERMINE AND RESOLVE. AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That on November 14, 1967, the City Planning
Commission institut.ed proceedings for the purpose of holding hear-
ings, receiving evidence, considering and making recommendations
concerning the amendment of the zoning regulations contained in
Chapter 2 of Article IX of the Arcadia Municipal Code, and parti-
4It cularly the provisions thereof dealing with signs, pursuant to
which a public hearing for such purposes was duly held on Decem-
ber 12, 1967, at which time all interested persons were given full
opportunity to be heard and to present evidence.
SECTION 2. That as a result of said hearings and based
upon evidence and reports received and filed thereat, the City Plan-
ning'Commission hereby recommends to the City Council of the City
of Arcadia that Chapter 2 of Article IX of the Arcadia Municipal
Code be amended as hereinafter specified.
SECTION 3. That Section 9275.4.8 be amended to read as
follows:

9275 .4.8 . SIGNS,. Signs shall comply with the following
requirements:
1. Signs shall contain only such subject matter which
refers to the name of the establishment or to the goods and services
sold on the premises on which the sign is located.

2. The total area of signs on the property shall not
exceed two (2) squa.re feet of sign area for each lineal foot of
property frontage. Corner lots shall use only one side of street
frontage to de termi:ne maximum sign area.
3. The maximum height of signs shall not exc,eed twenty-
five (25) feet.
4. One free standing Sign not to exceed ap area of 150
square feet may be permitted. Service stations may be permitted
one additional free standing sign not to exceed a nominal size of
three (3) feet by five (5) feet and a height of eight (8) feet. A
sign permit for this sign must be obtained from the Buflding Division.
A plot plan showing the proposed location of the sign shall be sub-
mitted at the time a sign permit is requested. The plan shall show
the permanent location of the sign and the manner by which the sign
shall be permanent+y fixed to the intended location. The sign shall
be kept in a good state of repair and shall be painted or archi-
tecturally treated with the same color scheme as the service station
building.
5. All other signs shall be mounted flat against the
building except those specified on an approved plot plan.
6. No billboards shall be permitted.
7. No attraction boards shall be permitted.
8. No sign shall project more than twelve (12) inches
over publiC rights-of-way.
9. For sale or lease signs shall not exceed four (4)
. square feet.
10. No moving sign or signs with any moving parts shall
be permitted. Blinking, flashing, travelling or moving lights or
signs shall not be permitted.

11. Signs shall not cause any glare or reflection or
light on other property or buildings.
12. No banners shall be permitted.
13. Auxiliary signs normally used to advertise trading
stamps, credit cards, and telephone service may be installed on
exis.ting or proposed light standards. These signs may not exceed
a nominal size of two (2) feet by three (3) feet.
SECTION 4. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause a copy hereof to be forwarded
to the City Council of the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Planning Commission of the City of
~ Arcadia held on the 12th day of December, 1967, by the following
