SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM STAFF REGARDING AGENDA ITEMS
1. PUBLIC COMMENTS (5 MINUTE TIME LIMIT PER PERSON)
Any individual wishing to speak before the Health Committee is limited to five (5) minutes per
person, unless waived by the Health Committee. Under the Brown Act, the Health Committee is
prohibited from discussing or taking action on any item not listed on the posted agenda. The
matter may automatically be referred to staff for appropriate response or action or may be placed
on the agenda of a future meeting.
REPORTS FROM HEALTH COMMITTEEE MEMBERS
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
All matters listed under the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and can be acted on
by one roll call vote. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless members of the
Commission, staff, or the public request that a specific item be removed from the Consent
Calendar for separate discussion and action.

The Health Committee will adjourn this meeting to March 20, 2024, at 5:00pm in the Recreation

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
June 27, 2023
CALL TO ORDER – City Council Member Michael Cao called the meeting to order at 4:00pm.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM STAFF REGARDING AGENDA ITEMS - None
1. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None
REPORTS FROM HEALTH COMMITTEE MEMBERS
City Council Members Michael Cao and Eileen Wang thanked Director of Recreation and
Community Services Department, Sara Somogyi, and Deputy Director of Recreation and
Community Services Department, Candice Cheung for attending the first City’s Health Committee
meeting. Council Member Cao reported he reached out to USC Arcadia Hospital and said there
are doctors and nurses interested in attending meetings to provide their input. Council Member
Cao reported he spoke with Fire Chief Chen Suen to invite him to present information on
emergency medical services (EMS) standpoint. Council Member Cao reported he spoke with
members of Huntington Health Foundation Pediatrics, who are also interested in attending the
Health Committee meetings. Council Member Cao said he will be reaching out to Children’s
Hospital.
City Council Member Wang reported she has been asked about the City providing mental health
services. City Council Member Wang said there are many health issues throughout the
community such as mental health, heart disease, diabetes, and much more. The goal of the
Committee is to help the community and provide resources and programs for those in need. City
Council Member Cao said another goal is to have guests at every meeting to provide as much
information and explain services to the committee and the community. City Council Member Wang
said she is excited to create something for the community and to keep this committee moving and
growing for future generations.

3. REGULAR ITEMS
a. Discussion about the formation of the Health Committee
City Council Members Cao and Wang are currently serving as delegates of the Health Committee
to provide health education and a health fair for Arcadia residents. City Council Members Cao
and Wang look forward to having a community a health fair for all ages in the near future. The
Health Committee meeting agendas and meeting minutes will be prepared and distributed by
Senior Administrative Assistant, Bani Antonacci.
b. Future Meeting Schedule
City Council Members Cao and Wang agreed the Health Committee will meet quarterly, every
three months, on the third Wednesday at 5:00pm. The next four regularly scheduled meetings
were confirmed as follows; September 20, 2023, December 20, 2023, March 20, 2024, and June
19, 2024. It was also confirmed a special meeting requires one day notice and regular scheduled
meetings require 72-hour notice with an Agenda. The Health Committee meetings will begin
promptly at 5:00pm in the Recreation Department Conference Room, located at 375 Campus
Drive, in Arcadia. City Council Members Cao and Wang have requested a special meeting on
Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 5:00pm.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 4:48pm to September 20, 2023 at 5:00pm, at the Recreation
Conference Room, 375 Campus Drive, Arcadia.
