Approve the special meeting minutes of November 15, 2023 Recommended Action. Approve b. Citywide Health Education Services Planner c. Discussion about the Health Fair There will be time reserved for those members of the public who wish to address the Health Committee regarding the above item. In accordance with the Brown Act, public comments will be limited to addressing the item listed on this special meeting agenda. Under the Brown Act, the Health Committee is prohibited from discussing or taking action on any item not listed on the posted agenda. No other business than the above will be considered at this meeting. Dated: January 9, 2024 _______________________________ City Council Member Michael Cao _______________________________ City Council Member Eileen Wang HEALTH COMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2023 CALL TO ORDER – Mayor Pro Tem Michael Cao called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. ROLL CALL OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Pro Tem Michael Cao and City Council Member Eileen Wang PUBLIC COMMENTS - None a. Approve the special meeting minutes of November 15, 2023 Recommended Action. Approve b. Citywide health education series planning On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, the Health Committee met for a special meeting to discuss and continue to plan for the citywide health education series. The following guests attended; Desiree Molina, Chia-Chieh Hu, Tracy Joseph, Diane Daniels, Kenneth Wogensen, Dino Clarizio, Mark Feng, David Ratto, Brian Green, Tom Devlin, Sara Somogyi, and Candice Cheung. During the meeting Mayor Pro Tem Cao confirmed there will be two lectures per month to begin. One educational lecture will be for the senior community and the second lecture is for everyone in the community. The first senior lecture is scheduled on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Arcadia Community Center. The second lecture for everyone to attend will be scheduled by Mayor Pro Tem Cao and Council Member Wang who will work on finding a topic and speaker for January 24, 2024, at 6pm. Sara Somogyi said she will contact the Arcadia Library and ask if their facility is available on that day and time. Mayor Pro Tem Cao said senior lectures will continue to be held by Senior Services at the Arcadia Community Center in partnership with USC Hospital as they have been in the past. The second lecture of the month is to be scheduled by the individual assigned to the month or as a group. As a group, it is expected to find a speaker, location, and lecture. The educational lectures are to be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6pm at the Arcadia Library , if it is available or at a venue in Arcadia. If a speaker is not available for a particular month and topic, Mayor Pro Tem Cao suggested having the Kaiser hybrid health and wellness lectures available for the public. Doctor Mark Feng can provide the information on the available hybrid health courses for the month. Mayor Pro Tem Cao said he will request to have flyers and informational inserts inside utility bills to advertise the lectures each month and Council Member Wang will promote the lectures on social media. Council Member Wang asked everyone to attend the first lecture and bring a friend. The special meeting was adjourned at 6:15pm.
