REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
March 6, 2024
CALL TO ORDER — Mayor Pro Tern Michael Cao called the meeting to order at 5:05pm.

a. Regular meeting minutes of December 20, 2023.
Recommended Action: Approve
It was moved by Mayor Pro Tern Cao seconded by Council Member Wang to approve Consent
Calendar Item 2.a.
3. REGULAR ITEMS
a. Discussion on Health Seminar
On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the Health Committee met for their regularly scheduled meeting,
Their last regular scheduled meeting was held on December 20, 2023 with special meetings in
between. The following guests attended this meeting: Kenneth Wogensen, Dino Clarizio, Brian
Green, Chia-Chieh Hu, Angela Aschian, Jane Kim, Diane Daniels, Ana Castro via Zoom, and
Candice Cheung.
Mayor Pro Tern Cao thanked everyone for their participation at the first and second Health
Seminar. The first seminar on concussions and brain injuries was held on January 24, at the
Arcadia Public Library with 112 attendees. The second seminar on heart disease was held on
February 28, at the Museum Education Center with 60 attendees. Mayor Pro Tern Cao asked
everyone to have lectures available on time in order for the translators to be able to prepare with
the correct medical terminology for each seminar. Mayor Pro Tern Cao stated some of the monthly
seminar topics will also be available for young individuals ranging from elementary to college
students. The next lecture will take place on March 27, at 6pm with Dr. Kenneth Wogensen, at
the Arcadia Public Library. The topic of the seminar will be headaches and migraines. The majority
of the monthly seminars will be held at the Arcadia Public Library. If the library is not available,
seminars will be held at the Museum Education Center or a different location.
b. Discussion on Health Fair
Mayor Pro Tern Cao and Council Member Wang agreed on the Citywide Health Fair date of
Saturday, August 10, 2024. The event will be held at the Arcadia Community Center. Deputy
Director of Recreation and Community Services Candice Cheung stated the capacity at the
Community Center is for 374 people if there are tables and chairs, however, once the layout has
been confirmed, Arcadia Fire Chief Suen will be able to indicate the true capacity allowed. Mayor
Pro Tern Cao and Council Member Wang also talked about a budget, advertising, translation
services, sponsors, the type of businesses to promote, booth cost for profit and non-profit
businesses, and the selection of doctors to invite to the event and the target audience. Those
topics will be discussed further in two weeks, at a special meeting on May 14, 2024, at 5pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:57pm to a special meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 5:OOpm,
at the Recreation Conference Room, 375 Campus Drive, Arcadia.
