DISCUSSION Within the limits of the Arcadia City Charter, the City Council meeting schedule is intended to meet the workload and scheduling needs of the elected body. Regular Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Due to the proximity of the Labor Day holiday, the City Council Meeting following the holiday weekend typically yields less agenda items and attendance. This year, there are no agenda items scheduled for the September 3, 2024, City Council Meeting. If there are no time-sensitive items scheduled for an upcoming meeting, staff may recommend that the applicable City Council meeting be canceled. If the City Council cancels the meeting, staff will ensure there are no delays in any time- sensitive items that would otherwise be addressed at that meeting. Should a necessity arise, a Special Meeting can be held to expedite any item that may require immediate City Council action. As a result, it is recommended that the City Council approve the cancellation of the September 3, 2024, Regular City Council meeting. ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS Cancellation of a City Council meeting is not considered a project under the California Cancellation of September 3, 2024, City Council Meeting August 20, 2024 Page 2 of 2 Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”), as it can been seen with certainty that it will have no impact on the environment. FISCAL IMPACT There will be minor savings in broadcast production costs, printing costs, and staff overtime by not holding this City Council Meeting. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that City Council determine this action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”); and approve the cancellation of the Regular City Council Meeting of September 3, 2024, and direct the City Clerk to post the required notices.
