HomeMy WebLinkAboutHC Minutes - 03.05.25HEALTH COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING MINUTES March 5, 2025 CALL TO ORDER — Mayor Michael Cao called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. PRESENT: Mayor Michael Cao and Council Member Eileen Wang SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM STAFF REGARDING AGENDA ITEMS - None 1. PUBLIC COMMENTS — Senior Citizens Commissioner, Ethel Laczko, introduced herself and provided the contact information of the Vons Manager to provide items such as boxed lunch meals or a donation for the 2025 Health Fair. 2. CONSENT CALENDAR a. Approve Regular Meeting Minutes of September 4, 2024. Recommended Action: Approve It was moved by Mayor Cao seconded by Council Member Wang to approve Consent Calendar Item 2.a. 3. REGULAR ITEMS a. Discussion on Health Seminars for 2025 On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the Health Committee met for their regularly scheduled meeting. The following guests attended this meeting: Dr. Dino Clarizio, Dr. Mark Feng, Dr. David Ratto, Dr. Chia-Chieh Hu, Tracy Joseph, Angela Aschian, Jane Kim, Diane Daniels, Sara Somogyi, Gina Hernandez, and Desiree Molina by Zoom. Mayor Cao and Council Member Wang approved the 2025 heath topics for monthly seminars for the next few months: March Diabetes Management, April Parkinson's Disease, May Arthritis, June Cataract Surgery, and July UV Awareness & Skin Cancer. b. 2025 Health Fair On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the Health Committee met and confirmed the 2025 Health Fair will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from gam to 1 pm at the Arcadia Community Center. The Committee agreed that lunch should be provided to every person or agency who reserves a booth to avoid turning people away. The Committee agreed to limit the number of speakers and to have only one Keynote Speaker at the event as the public is eager to get to their screenings and information booths. The Committee suggested there should be signage directing the public to available parking locations and also include the parking locations information on the flyer. Mayor Cao and Council Member Eileen Wang asked everyone to think of who they should invite to the Health Fair as the guest keynote speaker and also to begin the preparation of the sponsorship letters. The Committee agreed to have a maximum of 30 minutes for the guest keynote speaker's speech. Sara Somogyi said she will work on preparing the sponsor letter and asked if sponsor organizations should only be health related. It was agreed by the Committee that any organization can be a sponsor, they do not have to be health related. Dr. Feng confirmed there will be 500 flu vaccines donated and administered by Kaiser Permanente.
