PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — Chairperson Dale Carter ROLL CALL — Chairperson Dale Carter, Chairperson Pro Tempore Janalee Shimmin; Commissioner, Angela Ayala, Virginia Blitz; Library Director Darlene Bradkev, Library Services Manager Petra K8orhm, Museum Curator Stevy Acevedo, and Museum Education Coordinator Lauren Porras. Commissioner Blitz motioned to excuse Commissioner Marilyn Daleo from the meeting due to travel. Councilmember Ayala seconded the motion. The motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENTS: None Commissioner Blitz provided an update on the Friends of the Museum's fundraiser at Von's Credit Union that took place onAugust 15and stated itwas ogreat success. Chairperson Pro Tmmpore8hinmminalso reported that the Arcadia VVonnen'e Club is partnering with the Arcadia Historical Society to host a Murder Mystery Dinner Party inNovember tofundrnisefor the organizations. Director Bradley reported that the City Council voted tohave anew Veterans AdHoc committee tofurther research services for veterans. Applications for the Veterans Banner Program have now closed. Staff are proceeding with the administrative process and preparing for the production of the new banners. REPORT FROM THE CURATOR Curator Acevedo stated that Museum staff and volunteers have been active across several projectsthis summer. Volunteers and interns continued digitizing and cataloging rnaheha|a. including the Arcadia Historical Society Collection, the Woman's Club Collection, and photographs from the News Post. Translation efforts also progressed, with exhibit panels and flyers being made accessible in Mandarin and Simplified Chinese. Staff and interns installed several new exhibits, including the Veterans display, the Camp Santa Anita temporary exhibit, and a firefighter tribute at the library. The 15th Annual Photography Contest exhibit successfully closed, with strong community engagement. Preparations are underway for on upcoming Arcadia Little League exhibit, with research and personal items being gathered. Administrative updates included the Friends of the Arcadia Museum's planning of future fundraisers, City website updates, and submission of a proposal for the 2026 California Association of Museums conference. Staff and interns also participated in professional development through visits 10several local museums. Educator Pornaasuccessfully completed the Summer Enrichment Program with 132students participating across four thennedsessions: Time Traveling Artist, Tech ItOut, Dino and Diversity, and Lyrical Five students who attended all four programs received special recognition with certificates and tote bags. Feedback from families was positive, noting both the engaging content and activities. Applications are currently being collected for the Military Banner Program, with three new applications received ahead of the August 31 deadline. Staff also released a new educational kit, Architecture in Arcadia, and promoted Museum programs ataCity Summer Concert and Movie Night. PreparobonevvereuOdenwayfovthe annual Dino Day on August 23, with activities, special guests, and vendors planned for more than 150 anticipated visitors. Volunteer engagement remained strong over the summer, with 451.83 hours contributed between July 1 and August 20. Highlights included a Summer Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast and volunteer assistance in preparing materials and decorations for Dino Day in August which was also a huge success.
