1. PUBLIC COMMENTS – None
REPORTS FROM HEALTH COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Molina said the Health Fair was successful, she received positive feedback
from many people and was grateful for the event.
Commissioner Dr. Hu suggested it would be best to have a chair for both the consulting
doctor and client instead of one person standing and one person sitting. Consultations
should be face to face.
Commissioner Dr. Feng said he has positive video testimonies and would like to share them
with the public as it would be a great way to promote the fair. Director of Recreation and
Community Services Department Sara Somogyi (DRCSD) responded that Jackie Tran, the
City’s Public Information Liaison, will prepare a video for the public and will be shared on
social media. Commissioner Dr. Feng will provide additional videos to DRCSD Somogyi.
Commissioner Daniels said the Health Fair was a success and received positive feedback
from doctors who enjoyed the crowd, engaged with the public, and the staff also had a good
experience. Commissioner Daniels suggested focusing mostly on having sponsors from
hospitals and health facilities at future health fairs. DRCSD Somogyi responded that the
criteria and direction from the Health Committee was that the Health Fair booths had to be
health related and sponsors did not have to be health related, however, this can be decided
at the next Health Commission meeting for next year’s event.
Chairperson Dr. Clarizio reported the food and boxed lunch provided was excellent and
suggested the flu shot area should be located in the lobby area next year as the public was
having a hard time locating the Museum Education Center.
REPORT FROM CITY COUNCIL MEMBER LIAISON
Mayor Pro Tem Eileen Wang was happy the event was a success and thanked everyone for a
job well done. Mayor Pro Tem Wang responded to the comment about having Orlando Steel
Framing Company at the Health Fair as a sponsor. Although the roofing company was not
health related, the vendor is an Arcadia resident who wanted to show his support by being
a sponsor. Mayor Pro Tem Wang said it is up to the Health Commission to choose who they
want to have as sponsors in the future.
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
a. Special Meeting Minutes of September 3, 2025.

3. REGULAR ITEMS
a. Health Fair Debrief
Commissioner Thomassian, who was not present at the meeting, provided the following
feedback to DRCSD Somogyi to report on her behalf. Commissioner Thomassian reported
that the speakers and speeches in the main ballroom were too loud and disruptive during
the health screenings. Multiple booths were also providing blood pressure services.
Although it was a humid day, the ballroom was too warm. Commissioner Thomassian also
agreed that flu shots should be located in a central location. Commissioner Thomassian
reported that many sponsors felt people only visited a booth to get their cards stamped.
Lastly, the attendance tapered off close to noon.
Commissioner Dr. Feng reported that the group who worked on this year’s diabetic
retinopathy screenings are looking forward to providing this service to other cities for future
events. Everyone was amazed that the screening was a success. Commissioner Dr. Feng
reported the image will be sent to the patient’s doctor, and it is the patient's responsibility to
follow up with their doctor. Commissioners will have a QR code check-in process next year.
Recreation Supervisor Gina Hernandez (RS) reported she will work on getting the booth
check-in process to run smoother as she came across people who were not on the list or did
not know which booth they were working in, along with other minor issues. RS Hernandez
was happy the event was well attended, and everyone was extremely helpful.
DRCSD Somogyi thanked everyone for another successful Health Fair. DRCSD Somogyi said
there were plenty of notices and signs regarding the free shuttle service, however, it was only
used 27 times. DRCSD suggested we continue to use the parking lots next year without the
shuttle service and have the event from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. next year. DRCSD reported
there were 275 Mayor Certificates handed out which everyone who received one appreciated
it. It was also a nice gesture for the Mayor to stop by every booth and take photos with
everyone. DRCSD Somogyi gave everyone the budget breakdown and cost of the 2025 Health
Fair.
b. Health Fair Date for 2026
The Health Committee agreed that the next Health Fair will be held on Saturday, September
12, 2026, and $2,500 for sponsorships.
