REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
December 4, 2025
CALL TO ORDER - Chairperson Mazone called the meeting to order at 4:04 p.m.

ROLL CALL OF COMMISSIONERS
PRESENT: Arbour, Curley, Mazone, and Sherman
EXCUSED: Arasawa, Laczko
ABSENT: Arzate
A motion was made by Vice -Chairperson Sherman seconded by Chairperson Mazone and
unanimously carried to excuse Commissioners Arasawa and Laczko.

1. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None
REPORTS FROM SENIOR CITIZENS COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Arbour reported that the Golden Senior Club members enjoy celebrating
holidays and birthdays, and they especially enjoy playing Bingo each week. There are
currently 18 club members.
Commissioner Curley reported that the Bargain Box held their annual Holiday Boutique from
November 5, 2025, through November 8, 2025. The store sales went well.
Vice -Chairperson Sherman reported that the Men's Club members continue their weekly
meet up at the Community Center where they enjoy playing pinochle and have lunch.
Chairperson Mazone reported the Travelers Board met on November 20, 2025, for their
monthly meeting and on November 21, 2025, for their general meeting. Chairperson Mazone
reported on upcoming day trips. On December 6, 2025, participants will visit the Banning
House in Wilmington where they will tour the lavish decorated home followed by a horse-
drawn carriage ride and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. On December 31, 2025,
participants will bring in the New Year London time with the Moon Rays, a four-part harmony
group. On January 16, 2026, participants will visit the Los Angeles Zoo, Lummis House, Autry
Museum, and have lunch at the Tam O' Shanter. On January 26, 2026, participants will attend
the Grand Event Center to listen to great hits from The 51" Dimension, an American vocal
group. Lunch will be included. The next board meeting will be on Thursday, December 11,
2025, and the next general meeting will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025.
REPORT FROM CITY COUNCIL MEMBER LIAISON
Council Member Michael Cao reported the annual tree lighting ceremony will be held on
December 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Transit Plaza which is tonight.
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
a. Regular meeting minutes of November 6, 2025.
Recommended Action: Approve
It was moved by Vice -Chairperson Sherman seconded by Commissioner Curley and
unanimously carried on roll call vote to approve Consent Calendar Item 2.a.

3. REGULAR ITEMS
a. Report of Recreation Supervisor Annie Sumioka (RS)
Deputy Director of Recreation and Community Services, Candice Cheung (DDRCS) reported
on the following senior programs and events. The annual Veteran's Day celebration was held
on November 10, 2025, with 95 people. Every Veteran received a gift as a token of gratitude.
On November 13, 2025, 16 senior citizens participated in a Table Tennis Tournament. Each
winner received a medal, and bragging rights. On November 26, 2025, the annual
Thanksgiving event was held with a traditional turkey meal served by the Arcadia Fire
Department staff and a live guitar performance by Mina Boktor which everyone enjoyed. On
Monday, December 8, 2025, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is offering a
free seminar on Combating the Holiday Blues. DDRCS Cheung reminded everyone to please
RSVP if interested in attending the annual Senior Holiday Brunch on Friday, December 19,
2025.
b. Report of Recreation and Community Services Director (RCSD)
Recreation and Community Services Director Sara Somogyi (RCSD) wished everyone a happy
holiday season and hopes that everyone enjoys the annual cookie exchange. RCSD Somogyi
reminded everyone there will not be a meeting on January 1, 2026, as the meeting date lands
on a holiday and offices will be closed. The next meeting will be held on February 5, 2026.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Mazone adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m. to Thursday, February 5, 2026, at
4:00 p.m. in the Recreation Conference Room, 375 Campus Driv", rcadia.
