SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE ARCADIA MUSEUM COMMISSION AND THE
HUMAN RESOURCES COMMISSION
CEQA: Not a Project
Recommendation: Make Appointments
SUMMARY
At its June 16, 2026, meeting, the City Council made annual appointments to City
Boards and Commissions. Due to an insufficient number of applications for one
commission and the appointment of an existing commissioner to a different body at
the June 16 meeting, two vacancies now exist on the City’s Boards and Commissions:
one (1) on the Arcadia Museum Commission and one (1) on the Human Resources
Commission.
Following the annual appointment process, the City Council directed staff to contact
the applicants who were not appointed to determine their interest in serving on
those two commissions. This agenda item will enable the City Council to take action
to fill the vacancies on the Arcadia Museum Commission and the Human Resources
Commission from the attached applications.
DISCUSSION
As a result of the recent appointment process, one vacancy was created on the
Human Resources Commission, when an existing commissioner was appointed to
the City’s Planning Commission. Additionally, four openings were available on the
Arcadia Museum Commission; however, only three applications were received
during the Spring 2026 recruitment period, leaving one vacancy on the Commission.

Following the June 16, 2026, City Council meeting, per City Council direction, staff
contacted the applicants who were not appointed to determine whether they were
interested in serving on the Arcadia Museum Commission or the Human Resources
Commission. Seven applicants have indicated an interest in serving on the Museum
Commission and four applicants have expressed an interest in serving on the Human
Resources Commission.
It is recommended that the City Council appoint one member to the Arcadia Museum
Commission for a four-year term, and one member to the Human Resources
Commission for an unexpired term ending June 2028, from the attached list of
eligible applicants. To assist the City Council in making these appointments, the
following documents are attached:
• Commission Vacancies Appointment Summary Sheet
• Applications (in alphabetical order). Applicants have been verified as residents
and registered voters of Arcadia.
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The proposed action does not constitute a project under the California
Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”), as it can be seen with certainty that it will have
no impact on the environment.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with the City Council making appointments to
the Arcadia Museum Commission and the Human Resources Commission.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council determine that this action does not
constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”); and
appoint one member to the Arcadia Museum Commission for a four-year term; and
appoint one member to the Human Resources Commission for an unexpired term
ending June 2028.
